The Best Viewpoints in Tbilisi, Georgia

Having spent nearly a week in Tbilisi, Georgia, this summer, I fell head over heels in love with this amazing city. Not only is it vibrant and exciting, but it’s also such a beautiful city. I loved having so much time here to photograph the city from all sorts of different angles! I wanted to share some of my favorite viewpoints in Tbilisi, so here you go—the best viewpoints in Tbilisi, Georgia!

Baratashvili Bridge

The eye-catching Bridge of Peace draws the crowds with its futuristic design. But the best photo spot to actually photograph the Bridge of Peace is from Baratashvili Bridge. This view is one of my favorites in Tbilisi, as you can see both the Bridge of Peace and the buildings in the Old Town behind it! Sunset is probably the best time for it!

Cable Car

Of course one of the most unique ways to see the city is to see it from above! You can take the cable car from the station in Rike Park up to Narikala Fortress. You’ll go directly over the buildings in the Old Town, and get great views of the area around Rike Park and Europa Square from above. The cable car costs 5 lari per person each way.

Narikala Fortress

Regardless of whether you take the cable car or walk up, Narikala Fortress should not be missed. The Fortress gives some of the absolute best views in Tbilisi. You can see the whole city from up here, including the river and the Holy Trinity Cathedral. If you’re brave, you can hike up the (rather dangerous) wall to the cross at the top.

Holy Trinity Cathedral

Being one of the largest religious buildings in the world, Holy Trinity Cathedral is one of the main attractions that can be seen from all over the city. It also gives some pretty amazing views, as it’s located on a hilly part of town! You can’t miss this on a visit to Tbilisi.

Metekhi Church

Throughout my time in Tbilisi, I actually found that my favorite views of Tbilisi’s Old Town were from Metekhi Church. Not only does it give the best views of the picturesque buildings and roofs of the Old Town, but you can see Narikala Fortress and Kartlis Deda (the giant statue of a Georgian woman on the hill) overlooking the Old Town itself. The best photos will be from the ledges of the church, near the statue, close to the river.

Amodi rooftop

I made it a mission to visit as many cool bars in Tbilisi as I could. Research for the blog, of course! One of my favorite bars was Amodi—mainly for the fantastic rooftop views! I made it here in the evening after the sun had already set, but I’d definitely recommend getting here for sunset. You know it’s a good viewpoint when all the locals are having mini photoshoots with the city behind them!

Point Terrasse rooftop

Another great rooftop bar is Point Terrasse, which is actually a hotel. The bar is open to non-residential guests though, and gives a spectacular 180˚ view of the city. This was a lot quieter than Amodi, and was spectacular at sunset. You can’t miss this place if you’re hunting for the best viewpoints in Tbilisi!

Chronicles of Georgia Monument

This perhaps isn’t the best view for central Tbilisi—the Chronicles of Georgia Monument is located quite a ways away from the city center. It actually was a real struggle getting a taxi driver who knew where we wanted to go! But for a sweeping viewpoint of Tbilisi’s outskirts and the Tbilisi Sea, definitely get up to the top of the monument. This is certainly worth a visit in its own right!

Mtatsminda Park

For perhaps the best all-incompassing view of Tbilisi, take the funicular up to Mtatsminda Park. The entire city will be spread out before you. I actually didn’t make it here on my trip, and I’m just kicking myself seeing the photos! Definitely don’t miss this viewpoint.

Tbilisi is a beautiful city and has so much to offer visitors. There are so many amazing viewpoints across town, but these would have to be my favorite. Don’t miss the best viewpoints in Tbilisi!

I stayed at two different places during my trip to Tbilisi: Fabrika Hostel, and this Airbnb. You can look for hostels in Tbilisi here, and you can check out hotels in Tbilisi here!
